Topeka High has a new assistant principal. Ms. Jennifer Jimenez is the assistant principal of Division 2. Jimenez was one of the Spanish teachers here last year before her promotion. She did her administration internship years ago and knew she wanted to stay in administration but moving hindered her from moving up. “It was my long-term goal to stay in administration. And unfortunately, right after I did my internship and would have proceeded the next year into a regular full-time, assistant principal, we moved, and so I had to start over.”
Jimenez replaced Mr. Frost, the previous Division 2 assistant principal. Jimenez is adjusting to her new position. “It is asking a lot of questions, getting to know people, getting to know where to go. It just takes time. But everyone has been so helpful, so kind and caring. So it’s gone very well.”
Jimenez hopes to make a difference in kids’ lives and to help them be successful. Her long-term goal is to be assistant principal for a few years and then move up to associate principal. Her support team is like no other “I couldn’t do it without them, they are the best. They have all sorts of advice, knowledge, wisdom to share and everyone is willing to share them with me, so its been like a dream team for me.”
