Topeka High school’s 150th anniversary celebrated
The 150th anniversary of Topeka High School was celebrated with an assembly for the seniors on September 17. At the assembly, several people of importance to the school spoke to the students, such as Dr Hannah Naeger, who is a Topeka High alumni and now works as a dentist. She spoke about how Topeka High is different than other schools and about how it is a special place to be. Another speaker at the assembly was Michelle De La Isla, who is the Mayor of Topeka.
When the assembly ended, which was at the end of the school day, cupcakes were served outdoors to students leaving the school while the drumline preformed.
Topeka High was founded in 1871 and the current building was completed in 1931.
