Topeka High accepts foreign exchange students and has been known to have many students from all over the world. This year having students from Chile, Spain, Estonia, Austria, Ukraine, ect.
International students come from all over and go to Topeka High school for either a year or semester. This year Topeka High hadmany students from all over the world. The international students chose this country then happened to be put in Topeka, Kansas.
Everyone teaches and runs schools differently, especially in other countries. Junior Constanza Argandona is from Chile. Argandona said that it is strange how Topeka High has “a lot of students and that change classes” in Chile students stay in one classroom and the teachers change.
Argandona said she loves the “spirit” of Topeka High. Argandonas favorite class is “jewelry; cause we don’t have those kinds of classes in Chile, like electives.” Argandona said we have a lot of things to be involved in like elective classes and all different kinds of sports.
Junior Polina Tsvilkovska is from Ukraine. Tsvilkovska said that it was strange how much “freedom people” have. She said that everything is different here compared to her old school. In Ukraine, you choose what subjects to learn. Tsvilkovska said her favorite thing about topeka high was how “people are good here.”
Junior Liisa Linnus is from Estonia. Linnus said that Topeka High is different from her old school. She said “the students get to choose most of their classes at my old school. You just have the schedule and you have to do the classes.”
Linnus said she likes Topeka High and said “I like how open and funny the teachers are.”
Topeka High gave foreign exchange students and international students opportunities. The students that have come to Topeka High to learn what other places in the world are like and for other students to learn about different cultures from these international students.
