5 questions going into the NFL Draft

5+questions+going+into+the+NFL+Draft

We’re only nine days away from the biggest event of the NFL offseason, the Draft. I said I would do a mock draft before. but with all the crazy moves happening, I haven’t been able to defiantly come up with one because it seemed there was a big move everyday. So here is five things to remember when the big day is here.

  1. How many Quarterbacks will go in the top 10: There are many teams in desperate need of a quarterback in the top 10, especially in the top five, so it’ll be interesting to see whether teams like the Giants, Broncos, Jets, and the Browns will decide to draft one, or whether a team like Buffalo could decide to trade up into the top 10 to steal one.
  2. Will Saquon Barkley live up the pre draft hype, and where will he end up:  The release of C.J. Anderson from the Broncos makes Barkley’s draft even more interesting. With the four first teams possibly passing on the Penn State star, the Broncos could pick up the best player in the draft without having to trade up. The Broncos may not be in a good position to pick up Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, or Josh Allen, and maybe not even Baker Mayfield, but if these four go within the first five picks, the Broncos will have their choice from the rest of the stacked field.
  3. Who is in position to trade up within the first two rounds: There are teams who may be looking to trade up or down within the first two rounds. The main candidate for a trade up, would probably be the Buffalo Bills. Yes they signed AJ Mccarron, but with this talented of a QB pool, it would surprise me if they could trade with the Browns for the fourth overall. There have also been rumors about the Chiefs trading up into the early second round to draft a elite cornerback to help their secondary.
  4. Will the Browns pull a Browns again: The Browns can’t draft elite players, and they’ve had so many chances to with the early picks that they’ve had in the past few years. Johnny Manziel, Corey Coleman, Trent Richardson, and Cameron Erving have all been busts, with a small exception for Coleman who is young. With the picks they have this year they have all the options in the world. With two first four picks, they have the possibility of acquiring the services of elite picks like Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Bradley Chubb. The Browns can actually be decent next year with all the moves they’ve made and the stacked class they’ll probably have.
  5. Who will come out as the superior safety between Derwin James and Minkah Fitzpatrick: This one is tough because we aren’t even sure whether Fitzpatrick will play safety for the team who drafts him. Derwin James is starting to trend towards the top safety in the draft. I think that Fitzpatrick is the best player, but if you’re looking for a top safety, I would personally take James just because he is only a safety. In some ways Fitzpatrick’s versatility is hurting him.

All I can say is that this draft will be a fun one to watch.
