New School Principal Announced
Tonight the Topeka Public Schools board decided the new school principal for the upcoming year will be Rebecca Morrisey. Morrisey has been in the district since 2009 and will continue her career as the new leader of the school.
For the past five years Morrisey held the position of principal at Eisenhower Middle School. In her first year with the district, Morrisey was an assistant principal at Topeka High School. She will now return to the school she began at.
Some of the different honors Morrisey has been awarded with include the KASSP Assistant Principal of the Year in 1999, Aspiring Principal Academy Selection in 1995 and has been named Who’s Who Among American High School Teachers five times.
Morrisey will be taking the position of Dr. Linda Wiley. At the of the second semester, Wiley announced her retirement after 10 years with the school.
