New superintendent announced
A new superintendent for Topeka Public Schools was chosen at the Mckinley administration building Friday evening.
Tiffany Anderson was chosen as the new leader of the school district. Anderson, who was voted in unanimously with a 7-0 vote, will begin July 1 and will be replacing Julie Ford who served as the superintendent since 2011.
“We are really excited. She has had a great history everywhere she has been throughout her career,” Patrick Woods, school board president, said.
Anderson comes from being the superintendent of Jennings school district in St. Louis since 2012 and also ran school districts in Virginia as well as Kansas City. She will be tasked with the duty of managing a school district which has recently undergone budget cuts and personal changes.
The decision ultimately came down to two people, Tiffany Anderson and Frank Harwood, who is currently the superintendent of the Bellvue school district near Omaha.
