Students balancing work and school

For many students, working is one of many things which have to be fit in among the numerous other activities as well as balancing it with school. There are several students who currently work as well as go to school.

“I work a lot outside of school because I want the extra money. I don’t really mind the time it takes because I can still get my homework done,” Barrett Robertson, senior, said.

There are several different reasons students pick up jobs outside of school such as saving for college, extra spending money, or to contribute to the financial security of their family.

“I just got a job at Asian Cafe a few weeks ago so I can save some money for when I move to Colorado,” Brandon Jensen, senior, said.

With the increasing cost of college throughout the country, more students are doing whatever they can to make sure they are as prepared as possible.

“I know how expensive college is but I plan on getting a job when I get to Colorado. I might also be able to get in-state tuition because I have family that lives out there,” Jensen said.

While many students balance work with school, some exclusively devote their time to  academics.

“I usually have too much homework every day to have time for a job. My parents are also always on top of me about my grades and college stuff so I just focus on that right now,” Blake Morrell, senior, said.
