Trojan Profile: Nell DeCoursey Brennan
Nell DeCoursey Brennan, freshman, is participating in swim team for the first time in her high school career.
“I swam in summer leagues for like probably 6 or 7 years, but this is my first time swimming outside of summer,” DeCoursey Brennan said. “I was pretty nervous for my first meet because I hadn’t swam in like 2 years, but once the first of it was over I was just really excited to get back into it.”
DeCoursey Brennan says there are things she likes and things she doesn’t like about swimming. Her teammates help her have fun.
“I’m not much a fan of the practices because they can be really hard and tiring, but I really enjoy meet days so far, and hanging out with people and getting to know them,” DeCoursey Brennan said.
Because she had not swum since 7th grade, DeCoursey Brennan was apprehensive about getting back in the water. However, she got back in the the swing of swimming.
“I was pretty nervous for my first meet because I hadn’t swam in like 2 years, but once the first of it was over I was just really excited to get back into it,” DeCoursey Brennan said.
The team has been steadily improving with each meet, according to DeCoursey Brennan. The girls have also bonded throughout the season.
“We’re doing really good. We’ve improved the last couple meets,” DeCoursey Brennan said. “We beat Topeka West, which we haven’t done in a while, so it’s pretty exciting. We’re hoping to continue that into the upcoming meets.”
