On Monday September 28, a new era of comedy will be ushered in. South African comedian Trevor Noah is the latest new host in late night television.

At 31, Noah is the youngest of any late-night hosts and has promised to adapt Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” to better fit a new, younger generation while trying to maintain cultural and political relevance.

Noah will become the show’s third host seven weeks after Jon Stewart left the helm he had commanded for 16 years. Kevin Hart will be the show’s first guest, followed later in the week by New Jersey governor Chris Christie. Noah has made it a point of emphasis to continue to blend politics and entertainment.

Long time fans of the show should be happy as Noah has no plans to completely change the show. Rather, Noah simply plans to change minor things in the format, mainly the way stories are covered.

The new show will likely reflect the hosts’ vastly different backgrounds. Noah grew up poor during apartheid in South Africa and has had no real connection to American politics in his life.

Unlike Stewart, who often targeted cable-news outlets, Noah will focus more on the individuals in the news rather than the outlets themselves. Regardless of how he plans on doing it, Noah will certainly have America’s attention as he begins his reign as host of “The Daily Show”.
