Avengers: Age of Ultron

A cinematic orgasm of fast paced CGI and master level fighting can only mean one thing: new Avengers movie. The whole team returns in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, a sequel to their massively successful team action, flick to fight the digital monster Ultron.

Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, Tony Stark, kicks off this action thriller by trying to create an Earth defense system with an artificial intelligence. Stark succeeds and fails as his creation finds different meaning in protecting the planet.

Marvel teased a few new characters for this movie, including Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch, within their infamous end movie teasers. For some reason, in the movie their names are never used. They are referred to only as the twins. Message to viewers, it’s Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch. Don’t worry, Avengers: Age of Ultron has mind blowing teaser ready to go as well.

Mark Ruffalo returned for his second portrayal of The Incredible Hulk, and Ruffalo smash. Never before has an actor been able to capture Bruce Banner so expertly, combining both the brilliant scientist and the broken man to create a remorseful and reluctant anti-hero. Its not like Edward Norton did a bad job, but he didn’t seem as troubled with what he was. Ruffalo’s Banner knew what he was incapable of, and he felt like a true monster.

This film developed Hawkeye more than any other character, which has some fans confused. He is not a the mightiest of the Avengers, but his storyline keeps getting better and better. It is clear now, Hawkeye is a permanent fixture in the Avengers.

One has to wonder about special effects in movies today. How much do actors actually perform in these roles anyway? Really, did Robert Downey Jr. even appear in the movie or was it just a variety of prop suits and some CGI? A huge percentage of this movie is just over the top effects, some scenes even make the viewer feel like they’re watching a Godzilla movie.

There was not bad performances in this movie, it was nearly flawless. Marvel has this whole Marvel Universe thing down to a science. They have figured out the formula and these films always look fantastic. Is there room for improvement? Is perfection even fun to watch? It’s in the eye of the viewer.
