Jayna Thomspon, senior, hits a water balloon during the Clash of Clubs competition, “Water Balloon Baseball.” Clash of Clubs began last Thursday and will end this Thursday.

Topeka High is feeling like the most magical place on Earth lately, as Link Crew kicked off their annual Clash of Clubs (C.o.C.) last Thursday with Disney trivia night.

C.o.C is a week long event held at the beginning of every school year. The event gives clubs the opportunity to compete in an event each day after school. At the end of the week, the club who wins the most competitions is given a coveted 4-foot, silver trophy.

For the past three years, the trophy has resided in the French room with french teacher and club adviser, Janice “Madame” Waldo. As the event continues, there’s one question on everybody’s mind: who will stop the French Club from winning Clash of the Clubs for the fourth straight year?

The Thespian Society won “Disney trivia” on the first night, and the competition continued into Friday, with the Debate and Forensics Club taking first place in the “Angels in the Outfield” water balloon game.

This year’s Disney theme offers interesting possibilities for games and prizes.  Next week, the games continue with karaoke, a food drive, and an obstacle course. Although Wednesday signifies the end of competition, Thursday is by far the most important day for each club.

Known as Club Carnival, Thursday gives every club the opportunity to advertise their club in hopes of convincing people to join. Clubs participating install booths on the front lawn of Topeka High.

This gives the Trojan student body the opportunity to find out information regarding any club. With such a diverse array of clubs, there is no doubt something for everybody.

Here are the dates and times for the rest of the event:

  • Monday, September 12 “High School Musical” (karaoke) – moved to the student cafeteria, 3:05 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 13 “Cinderella’s Castle” (food drive/castle building) – veranda, 3:10 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 14 “Boot Camp” (obstacle course) – outside North Gym, 3:05 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 15 Club Carnival – veranda & front lawn, 3:05 p.m.
