Superintendent Search narrowed to two candidates.

Topeka Public School has narrowed the list of potential superintendents down to two candidates who will go into a second round of interviewing for the position.

The two candidates were selected from a pool of 6 candidates chosen for a first round of interviews with the Board of Education where the candidates were given a chance to outline their future policies and goals while working in USD 501.

Tiffany Anderson is a native Missourian from a majority low-income school district in Saint-Louis where she gained renowned for initiatives which tackled out of school problems faced by students.

Frank Harwood, a Nebraska superintendent is also vying for the position. Harwood is in his 5th year at the helm of Bellevue Public Schools and previously served as a principal for Central Junior High in Lawrence.

The USD 501 superintendent search comes amidst several other searches in the area including Seaman and Kansas City.

The second round of interviews will take place in a Board of Education executive session over two days- Tuesday January 19 and Wednesday January 20.
