Washburn Art Day

Every year Washburn Rural High School hosts Washburn Art Day, it’s goal, to promote high school art.

Artists from about twenty local schools are typically in attendance. Washburn Art Day is an all day event with a multitude of workshops such as digital animation, watercolor painting, and japanese stab binding to name a few.

Students in attendance of art day also submit pieces of their artwork for a show, and during the lunch provided by Washburn Rural awards are given out. This year Joshua Davis, photography teacher, will be taking 12 students and 12 pieces of artwork from Topeka High.

Despite the name Washburn Art Day is not merely a one day event, the works submitted are placed in an art gallery where students and their families can come and view the various artwork submitted by students from all across Kansas. The galleries opening night takes places two nights before the all day event. This year opening night will be on November 10th from 5-7 p.m. and art day will take place on November 13th.
